The search is on to find Atlanta’s “Most Fit” companies. Businesses from every metro-Atlanta county who demonstrate outstanding employee-based health and wellness programs will be recognized with the prestigious Kaiser Corporate Cup to be handed out at this year’s Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk – an annual 5K corporate run/walk that steps off in downtown Atlanta at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2005.

The Kaiser Corporate Cup was developed to highlight Atlanta companies who commit to providing a healthy work environment for employees. Companies are judged on a variety of employee health & wellness initiatives such as: onsite wellness and fitness centers, health prevention and screening programs, health risk assessments, flexible work schedules, annual physicals, employee assistance programs and safety programs offered to employees such as CPR, first-aid and automated external defibrillator (AED) training.

The annual award is presented to companies based on employee size in four categories: more than 5,000 employees; 1,000 – 4,999 employees, 100 – 999 employees; and 100 employees or less. Entries are judged by the Georgia Coalition for Physical Activity and Nutrition (G-PAN), a non-profit group of public, private and non-profit business organizations who work to improve the health of Georgians by promoting healthy eating and physical activity.

Winners of Kaiser Corporate Cup will be announced during the annual Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk to be held on Thursday, September 15 in downtown Atlanta. Last year’s winners included:

Southern Company: 5,000+ employees

General Motors: 1,000 – 4,999 employees

Chick-fil-A: 100 – 999 employees

Coventry Healthcare: 100 employees or less

Entry forms for the Kaiser Corporate Cup are available at www.kpcorporaterunwalk.com or by calling 404-843-8727. Entry deadline is Friday, September 2, 2005.
