Florida dominated Ohio State and stunned the previously undefeated Buckeyes 41-to-14 to win the BCS national championship.
Florida's win completed a unique double in college football and basketball. The Gators won the NCAA men's basketball title last April.
The Gators defense totally dominated. The Buckeyes, who averaged 410 yards total offense in the regular season, were held to 74 total yards. Florida held Heisman Trophy-winning QB Troy Smith to four-of-14 passing for 36 yards and one interception.
Ohio State's highlight came when Ted Ginn Junior returned the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown. But Ginn suffered an ankle injury late in the first quarter and didn't play thereafter.
After Ginn's T-D, the Gators scored on six of their seven first-half possessions to take a 34-to-14 halftime lead. Gators Q-B Chris Leak completed his first nine passes and finished 24-of-35 for 209 yards. Backup QB Tim Tebow also threw for one TD and ran for another.
