Im a newcomer to this fair State; Ive been here only twenty-eight (28) years. I moved here because I loved the community, the land and my neighbors. I built a home on my property and when my children married we built homes on my property for them as well. I emphase MY property because I have been informed by my neighbors that Cherokee County wants to be the first County in our fair State to implement a true Socialist agenda.

They want to implement a forty-five (45) page law that would take away the rights of property owners. Thats correct, an agenda that states what I can and can not do on my property. Im not against community building standards but Im against a County that takes a portion of my property without just compensation, a County that states what I can raise, grow and build. A County that dictates the type of windows I can put in my home or even in our Church. The color of the roof tiles I can use in replacing my roof. A County that will demand real estate taxes to be paid on property they have apportion for use by other people with no court action or compensation. A County that will implement a law that states they will not provide county water, sewers, street lights, fire hydrants and schools and if for any reason I fail to pay taxes on the property, the property will be foreclosed and taken by the County. Does this sound familiar?

Cherokee County states we were informed about the new rules, I would like to know when, and I have no recollection of ever being asked or informed about these changes. Correction my neighbors formed a task force and called it a CHEROKEE CITIZENS FOR PROPERTY RIGHTS. I thank God that they were there to try and help us. Since this group has been formed they have become under attack. Groups of activist made a number of statements against them and also threatened local politicians who dont agree with their socialist agenda.

I wouldnt reradiate page per page of this law but as the County states it was available to the public, (you try and find it).

So what do we do? Can we adjust to living in a socialist County? A County that will dictate how to live under its rules whiles the rest of the State lives in a democracy. We as property owners still have some power and its in elections, donations and financial support to politicians. Im going to with hold these items and support the politicians who will fight this agenda, regardless of party affiliation.

We ask the citizens of Cherokee County to open their eyes before its too late, even for them.

Aiding a criminal is illegal by US law, whether the ACLU likes the law or not, so why is aiding an illegal resident any different? Does this mean I can help “JOHN DOE” rob a bank, steal a car and drive down the street and rape and kill “JANE SMITH and get away with it?” This law should apply to everyone, even landlords and or big business who exploit the illegal. If they want our jobs, housing and other benefits our country has to offer, “DO IT LEGALLY.”

As victim, we will call her Mrs. Jones, is fond of saying, U.S. citizens are being forced to share their identities with undocumented immigrants to give corporate America a steady supply of cheap labor.
