Published Feb 22, 2008

Detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children unit have arrested Manuel Jesus Corrales, 33 years of age of 11 Fawn Court Woodstock, GA 30189. Corrales was arrested and charged with 26 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child and two counts of Child Molestation.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office received a tip on February 18, 2008, regarding the incident. The complaint alleged that the suspect’s stepdaughter had seen him under her bed taking photographs of her. Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Detectives began an investigation and after a forensic examination of the suspect’s camera, photographs were found validating the complaint. After the incident, the suspect left the residence and his whereabouts became unknown.

On February 21, 2008, detectives were able to locate the suspect at his place of employment where he was arrested. The Child Molestation charges arise from the manner that the photos were taken. There is no indication at this time that the child was touched by the suspect. The investigation is still ongoing.
