Son Arrested for Identity Fraud and Exploitation of Father

Investigators with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Financial Crimes Unit have charged a registered sex offender with Identity Fraud and Exploitation of an Elder. Donald Ken Cowart, 34 years old of Woodstock, was charged after he stole his father’s identity and charged over $14,000.00 on a credit card in his father’s name. Cowart and his father share the same name.
Cowart, was already in custody in the Cherokee County Jail after being arrested and charged with Violation of Probation on December 12, 2007. Cowart is being held without bond.
