Sheriff Roger Garrison plans to hire three new deputy sheriffs to investigate illegal gangs in Cherokee County. Funding for these officers is made possible through a $122,800.00 federal grant awarded to the sheriff’s office for gang investigations. The three deputies will be assigned to the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (CMANS).
“These deputies will be assigned to CMANS because individuals associated with gangs are often involved in illegal drugs as well, stated Garrison. "Gang investigations will be a valuable component to CMANS and enhance our drug fighting capabilities while identifying gang operations in Cherokee County”.
