The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office organized a training class today for county employees who routinely handle mail. Postal Inspector Travis Barnell of the United States Postal Service trained the approximately 50 employees on what to look for and what to do if they were to come into contact with suspicious packages.
In February of this year the Superior Court Clerks Office received a threatening letter with a white powder inside the envelope. It was later determined the letter was sent from an inmate in a south Georgia prison in an attempt to frame another inmate.
