On Sunday, July 6, 2008 near 3:00 P.M. Cherokee Sheriff’s Office responded to 893 New Light Rd. in reference to a person struck by a vehicle. The victim, Thomas L. White 66 years of age who resides at the New Light Rd. address, was transported to Cherokee Northside Hospital where he was dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigation reveals the driver, Melissa Houston 38 years old of Woodstock, was involved in a domestic argument with White and was in the process of leaving the home when White struck Houston’s Chevrolet truck with a brick – breaking the driver’s side passenger window. As Houston continued to attempt to leave she struck and killed White.
At this time no charges have been filed against Houston pending results of analysis of Houston’s blood for alcohol/drug content as well as results of the investigation.
