Cherokee Jail Intelligence Unit Receives Specialized Training

Four members of the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Jail Intelligence Unit recently attended training on the fundamentals of law enforcement intelligence.

The training was hosted by the Regional Counter Drug Training Academy which is located at the Naval Air Station in Meridian, Mississippi. Unit members received specialized training on intelligence collection strategies, analytic techniques, and intelligence resources, networks, and reports. The deputies will utilize this training in an ongoing effort to collect intelligence on gang members and their activities.

The members that attended the training were Lieutenant Mike Painter, Deputy Keith Allen, Deputy James Cook, and Deputy James Hart. The training was free of charge and the students are housed and fed at the base at no cost.
