Published Dec 18, 2007

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes against Children Unit (I.C.A.C.) was recently recognized by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for its “outstanding work responding to ICAC investigations and working with federal and state authorities”. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office ICAC was one of five agencies that were recognized out of the 66 agencies across the state of Georgia that participate in the ICAC program.

The ICAC Task Force program was created by the Department of Justice to help State and Local Law Enforcement agencies enhance their investigative response to offenders who use the Internet, online communications systems, or other computer technology to sexually exploit children. The program is currently comprised of 46 regional Task Force agencies across the nation and is funded by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Georgia’s ICAC Regional Task Force is supervised by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
