The Clean Air Campaign, Clark Howard and News/Talk 750 WSB are joining forces and asking metro Atlantans to give their cars a day off for just one day between June 16 and June 20. Commuters are encouraged to be "Clark Smart" and keep some extra cash in their pockets and gas in their cars by carpooling, vanpooling, teleworking, taking transit, biking or walking to work.
Who is participating? All metro Atlanta commuters are encouraged to sign up and give their cars a break.
Registration: Commuters can register online at WSBRadio.com until Friday June 20th.
Why give your car a day off? Using a commute alternative (carpooling, vanpooling, taking transit, biking, walking or teleworking) doesn’t have to be an “all or nothing” proposition. If everyone in the region would give their cars a day off one day a week, we’d see a 20 percent reduction in traffic. There are tremendous benefits – reduced commuting costs, improved air quality, reduced stress, less traffic – from using alternatives occasionally.
How can people get started? Visit CleanAirCampaign.com to learn more about commute alternatives and how to get started.
Are there any incentives available? For those who use this as an opportunity to make a more permanent change, the answer is a resounding “yes.” Commuters who start using a commute alternative (this week or any other week throughout the year) can earn $3 a day, up to $180, for making the change. Stop spending your entire paycheck on $4 gasoline, reduce your commuting costs and start earning some money through The Clean Air Campaign.
