Have you been wishing for something fun to do with your kids this summer? Then your wish has been granted!

Your Wish is Granted....Performances of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp-Spotlight

The Sawnee Cultural Arts Center’s Saturday on Stage Children’s Theatre will give performances of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp in June.

The play opens on Aladdin, a tailor’s teenage son, who would rather spend his time playing in the streets with his friends and secretly admiring the Princess Serena. Then, two scheming sorceresses, Rottaru and Evli, trick Aladdin into leaving his friends and family to retrieve a magic lamp from a dark and dangerous cave.

While lost inside the cave, Aladdin rubs the lamp and a powerful genie emerges to grant him any wish he desires. Aladdin wishes to leave the cave and to be transformed into a wealthy prince, so that he might marry Princess Serena.

Everything is going smoothly, until the evil sorceresses come back for the magic lamp and ruin Aladdin’s plans….

Local actor and director, Steven Jones, who also played Grandpa in last month’s production of Peter and the Wolf, is directing Aladdin and the Magic Lamp. Gay L. Grooms, artistic director of the Towne Lake Arts Center and director of several Saturday on Stage shows, wrote this play especially for young audiences.

Bring your family and friends to enjoy this magical story on the Main Stage at the Sawnee Cultural Arts Center. Performances will be given on Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 11:00am and 3:00pm, and on Sundays at 2:00pm, June 17-26.

Tickets are $5 each and are available in advance or at the door. Members of SCAC’s Patrons of the Arts Program may purchase tickets at $4 each.
