The Forsyth Forest Conservation Group cordially invites you to their very first Treepalooza Concert In The Park, a first-annual benefit event to raise funds and locate volunteers for the Forsyth Forest Conservation Group's efforts in re-planting trees in our neighborhoods, at our children's schools and in our community.

Please join FFCG and friends at Windermere Park, located off of Hwy. 20 East in Cumming, on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. for the "rock-your-socks-off" event of the year. The featured headliner band will be Forsyth's own incredible Wildcards.

Gather your family and friends, bring a blanket or chair to sit on and a picnic dinner, and we'll provide all the entertainment. Come listen to a song and help put trees back where they belong!

How Treepalooza Came About

Sherry DeRosa, Chairwoman of the Forsyth Forest Conservation Group (FFCG), is an environmentally concerned lady worried about the rampant, irresponsible growth of Forsyth County. Sherry and the FFCG feel that growth can be a very positive thing but that it doesn't necessarily have to destroy our environment in the process.

On her own volition, Sherry decided to just forge ahead via her personal efforts -- along with the FFCG -- and put some trees back into the County. She approached the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department, who were very open to Sherry and her concerns, and when she asked if they had a need for donated trees and volunteers to plant them, they were thrilled by this generous offer and have been working with Sherry and the FFCG on this environmental effort.

While planning for the FFCG's tree planting initiative, Sherry remembered that most of Forsyth's schools sit in what she calls "a desert," and couldn't imagine children playing on playgrounds without trees and shade. So she decided that the FFCG should plant trees at the schools as well.

The group's ultimate goal is to plant trees in subdivisions, an initiative that is still a bit down the road. In the meantime, the FFCG began brainstorming ways to raise funds for their tree-planting endeavor, and thus "Treepalooza Concert In The Park" was born, with Wildcard's gracious agreement to be the headlining band for the event.

Treepalooza is slated to become a yearly concert, hopefully impacting our community in a positive way by bringing everyone out together for some great fun and entertainment, while bringing the "green" back into our neighborhoods.
