Grammy Award-winning artists, Patti LaBelle and John Legend will headline Hands On Atlanta’s first-ever Community Benefit Concert on Jan. 31 at Philips Arena.  Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.com.

One of the greatest vocalists of all time, Patti LaBelle has enjoyed a prolific award-winning career spanning more than four decades and resulting in five #1 hits. Music sensation, John Legend received an astounding 11 Grammy nominations in two years, winning five including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.

Proceeds from the concert will support Hands On Atlanta’s ongoing community programming.  In 2007, Hands On Atlanta partnered with more than 500 schools and nonprofit agencies to manage and support over 18,000 community service projects.  Hands On Atlanta volunteers gave nearly 600,000 hours of service, exceeding $10 million in volunteer labor.

“This concert is a community celebration, and one that will greatly boost our ability to expand Hands On Atlanta’s mission of building community and meeting critical needs,” said Tracy Hoover, chief executive officer of Hands On Atlanta. “We are honored to have the support of such exciting performers as Patti LaBelle and John Legend. It’s going to be a fantastic evening.”

In addition, a meet-the-artist VIP reception featuring John Legend will take place at Headlines Bar & Grill in Philips Arena at 6 p.m. before the concert  Other celebrity guests will be in attendance including Grammy Award-winning artist Ciara, actor Lamon Rucker, Evander Holyfield, and HBO/Def Jam comedian Ronnie Long.  Entertainment provided by Destinee. VIP ticket packages, including the reception and prime concert seating, are $500.

The concert’s opening act will feature the winners of Hands On Atlanta’s Youth Talent Competition made up of middle and high school children from around the metro Atlanta area. They will perform the concert’s opening number produced by Kamaal Malak, former member of progressive hip-hop group Arrested Development, and hip-hop legend Spyder D.
