Looking for some good, clean, fun hometown entertainment this weekend? If so, you won't want to miss Cumming's First Annual Bluegrass Festival, set for Friday and Saturday, May 20th and 21st at the Cumming Fairgrounds.
Sixteen bluegrass bands complete the line-up and begin playing at noon on Friday, May 20th, with Randy Waller & The Country Gentlemen finishing up the day's entertainment just past midnight.
Saturday's event begins at 10:00 a.m., with "Open Stage" till noon, at which time Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show takes the stage, followed by The Everett Brothers. Other bands performing throughout the two-day bluegrass event include The Anita Fisher Band, The Lewis Family, BlueRidge, Honi Deaton & Dream, The Fox Family, 3rd Time Out, Ladygrass, Fontanna Sunset, Lonesome River Band, Cherryholmes Family, J.D. Crowe and The James King Band.
Tickets are $20 for one day and $35 for two days for adults and student (ages 6-15) tickets are $15 for one day and $20 for two days. Children under six are free with parents' admission.
The Bluegrass Festival happens rain or shine in the 44,000 square foot covered arena and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs (no high backs, please). Parking is free, and handicap parking is available as well. Full concessions will be available on-site and Festival officials ask that guests do not bring pets, ATVs or bicycles into the concert area. Absolutely no drugs or alcohol, coolers or glass will be permitted and security guards will be on duty throughout the event. Campground facilitites are available.
