Author Releases First Ever E-Books That Guide Children Through Grief Over Pet Loss

Published Oct 30, 2008

Bill McDonald, author of several books and books on tape for children and families, has released two new unique e-books – Parsley, A Love Story and Charlie, A Love Story. Both confront, head-on, the difficulties children (and adults) have in dealing with the loss of a pet. These “I know how you feel” stories gently and lovingly guide the reader through the process of grieving.

"I liked that the kids in your stories were given room to grieve. So many times they aren't allowed this, and it's so important." Burton/Nashville

"Having a new grandchild in the family and looking through his eyes at the world gives one a different perspective of what's really important. Your two stories made my day." Henry/Maine

As part of the grieving process, McDonald invites children and adults to write their own love stories and send them to be posted on his website www.onemillionlovestories.com.

“We sent Parsley and Charlie into the world just a week ago,” says McDonald. “and one pet lover has actually started a Parsley and Charlie group on Facebook, so we’re taking that as a positive. It’s pretty apparent that telling their own story is as important to the healing as reading about another child who has gone through the same thing.”

Both books are masterfully, thoughtfully illustrated by international award-winning muralist and photographer, Susan Reinhardt. An expert in audio production, McDonald also offers recorded versions of both Parsley and Charlie, narrated by former Miss New York and international voice talent, Julie Amato.

Bill McDonald is an Emmy Award winning writer who is most at home writing and working with children. He created and directed the international hit Christmas radio program I'd Like To Wrap Up A Dream For You All featuring hundreds of children, airing worldwide every holiday season since 1988. McDonald has written books for children and produced long form entertainment for and about children. He is currently writing, directing and producing Stories From Sunday Park, a series of books on tape for the Christian market.
