Hello Friends!

The 4th of July is just around the corner! Independence Day is such an exciting and fun time to celebrate the freedom of our nation, not to mention perfect for family get-togethers and outings. Most of us enjoy meeting together for barbeques and picnics, or perhaps a trip to the lake for sun and fun. Gatherings and fireworks go together hand-in-hand. I know how much our children love fireworks so I can imagine that all of yours do as well, so without further adieu, presented below is a list of tips that should be followed when choosing and using fireworks.

Firework Safety Tips:

* Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks. The thought of kids playing with fireworks reminds me of the movie "A Christmas Story." You know the line... "You'll shoot your eye out, kid!"

* Read all instructions and warnings. If there are no instructions, no warnings, no labels containing manufacturer's info., then by all means - don't buy them :( - they're most likely illegal. If you come across a situation where you find these types of fireworks, report the vender to your local law enforcement agency.

* Make sure that everyone is out-of-range, free from sparks and flames. A good example of NOT doing such would be the infamous taping of that Michael Jackson Pepsi commercial. Remember that one?!?!? His hair caught on fire!

* Fireworks should only be lit on a flat surface, away from houses, buildings, etc. No need to burn up Aunt Frieda's trees or Uncle Henry's barn.

* Clear away all flammable debris, such as dry leaves and paper. * In the event that a firework device does not function properly, do not attempt to re-light. It should be safely discarded after it has cooled down.

Have fun, be safe, and don't forget to bring the sunscreen :) !!!
