Holly Springs, GA –– Decks provide families with a place for fun, dining, and relaxation. However, a deck can also be the source of bad falls and other accidents. These accidents can be prevented with the proper precautions, but sometimes it’s not that easy to prepare for. Several Georgia residents found that the deck safety devices currently on the market were inadequate, so they decided to do something about it.
Custom Deck Gates was founded in 2003 to provide homeowners with an affordable way to protect their families from deck accidents. The company was founded by 4 partners, all of whom at one time needed a deck gate to protect their children or pets. Standard pre-manufactured gates wouldn’t fit properly or didn’t provide adequate protection, and handymen wanted several hundred dollars to make and install a custom gate. The group decided to build their own custom gates that would be sturdy and easy to install.
Soon, the high demand created by word of mouth propelled the four to open Custom Deck Gates, Inc. to offer the public an alternative to the costly or inadequate options. “We had first hand knowledge of an unmet need in the market, so we founded the company to help people who were having the same problems we did,” said company President Todd Levent. “The nationwide response has been really incredible.”
The company’s main product is the classic gate. The gate is constructed with environmentally safe, pressure treated pine in a standard vertical 2”x2” picket design. It was designed in a deck style, so it compliments the look of any deck.
Every gate features a fail-safe stop and dual self-locking latches. The fail-safe stop acts as an additional layer of protection to ensure that the gate never swings open toward the stairs. The dual self-locking latches allow the gate to be locked in the open position when the deck needs to be easily accessible. Each gate is cut specific to a deck’s dimensions and assembled with hot dipped, galvanized screws. Additionally, the gate is glued to provide superior strength, stability, security, and a longer product life. The gate pickets are spaced approximately 3-1/4” apart to keep children or animals from trying to squeeze through. The classic gate is available in standard or extra wide.
It sells for $99 including hardware and can be purchased online or in select retail stores in the metro Atlanta area. “We understand how important safety is, so we create each gate to be sturdy, dependable, and easy to install,” said Levent. “We give you peace of mind without the hassle.” For more information or to find the store nearest you, call (800) 670-4711 or visit www.deckgates.com.
