Poet Michael Meyerhofer Appears at Brenau Feb. 18

Poet Michael Meyerhofer will read from his works in a free, public recital at Brenau University’s Burd Center for the Performing Arts on Academy Street at noon Monday, Feb. 18. He will also conduct a workshop at 3 p.m. Brenau’s Writing Center at the Trustee Library, which is also on Academy Street.

Appearing at Brenau as part of the Georgia Poetry Circuit, Meyerhofer is the inaugural winner of the Liam Rector First Book Award for his collection of poems “Leaving Iowa.” Before this book, he published four award-winning chapbooks, among them Cardboard Urn, which won the Copperdome Chapbook Contest. He is also the recipient of the James Wright Poetry Award from Mid-American Review and both the Laureate and Annie Finch Prizes from The National Poetry Review. His work appears frequently in magazines such as Diagram, North American Review, Southern Poetry Review, Arts & Letters and Fugue. He teaches English and creative writing at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.
