The inaugural Lanier 400 was held on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at the Cumming fairgrounds Quarter Midget track. The event was a tremendous success, raising over $50,000 in support of the LEADER driver education program.

More than 70 local leaders of the community participated in the event, driving in 15-lap ‘heat races’ to determine the winner. When all the fun and action was over, Forsyth County Tax Commissioner Matthew Ledbetter claimed bragging rights to the trophy for the next year, followed by Forsyth County Commissioner, Brian Tam, Steve Schimweg and Buddy Lang.
