Parents with questions regarding whether their students should be attending summer school should consult their child’s teacher or counselor for recommendations. Here are guidelines for those high school students planning to attend summer school this year:
High School students who are paying for summer school in cash must come to the Central Office every Monday and Wednesday, 4:00-5:00 p.m. A receipt will be given for cash payments.
Location: Otwell Middle School. No transportation is provided.
Dates: Summer School will consist of 2 three-week sessions:
Times: 8:00 am – 12:30 pm
Attendance: After 3 absences, students may be withdrawn at the discretion of the director. Please do not plan vacations, trips or appointments during these times.
Registration Information/Course Credit: Each course successfully completed will earn a student 1/2 Carnegie unit. A student may earn up to 1 Carnegie unit if enrolled in both Session I and Session II. Please Note: Students enrolled in NFHS & SFHS may only sign up for one course and must attend both sessions.
Grading: Students will be graded using the same guidelines used during the school year. A final report will be issued at the end of each Summer Session.
Registrations will be accepted at your local school beginning March 28th until April 29th. Late registration will be held June 1, 3:00-6:00 p.m. and June 2, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Forsyth County Board of Education office. Be sure to check with your local school counselor to ensure that your student is enrolled for the appropriate class.

The fee for students who are not enrolled or attending Forsyth County Schools is $225 per ½ Carnegie Unit. Priority is given to students attending Forsyth County Schools.
