During our 'Chardonnay Celebration,' I have reported on a variety of really good value chardonnay wines at our store, and today I would like to mention our selection of organically grown chardonnays. While we have several labels available, one of the best is the 2005 Bonterra Mendocino County Chardonnay.
Organically grown grapes are produced without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers, using instead natural pesticide practices and natural fertilizers. This helps produce a more healthy crop, and some feel that the organic method produces a fuller flavor and a more distinctive taste.
This chardonnay is rich and full-flavored with aromas of pineapple, honey and lemon. The flavor is refreshing with a little citrus tartness rounded out with the taste of green apples for a smooth and balanced finish between the fruit and acidity. This clean and crisp chardonnay will pair well with grilled chicken and would be great with Fettuccine Alfredo. If you like organic foods, this is the wine for you.
