Case to Receive Eagle Scout Award

Published Aug 5, 2008

Jeramey Case, 17, of Boy Scout Troop 638, will be honored at a special Eagle Scout ceremony Saturday, August 16, 2008.  The ceremony will take place at Hillcrest Baptist Church, at 2 p.m.

To earn Scouting's highest award, Jeramey had to earn at least 21 merit badges, serve as a leader in his troop, and complete a major community service project.

Jeramey's service project took place at the Woodstock Community Center.  Jeramey led fellow scouts and adults in over 250 volunteer hours over spring break.  He landscaped the grounds with drought resistant plants, built picnic tables, built benches, built bird houses, and a bird feeder, and cleaned up debris.

Jeramey has been a member of Troop 638, chartered to Hillcrest Baptist Church, for the past 6 years. He has served the troop as patrol leader, senior patrol leader, quartermaster, and instructor. He has completed JLT (Junior Leader Training) and LNT (Leave No Trace) Awareness, Adult CPR, Snorkling BSA, and earned the World Conservation Award.  Jeramey is also a member of Order of the Arrow (OA), the BSA’s National Honor Society.

The son of Christy and Van Cochran of Woodstock is a senior at Woodstock High School where he has participated on the football team, track team, wrestling team and is an avid cyclist. He is a member of the fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Jeramey's future academic plans are to attend college and study psychology and sports medicine.
