Setting goals is something we are faced with on a daily basis, both in our personal lives as well as in our business lives. For some of us it may come naturally, for others we may have good intentions but just don’t accomplish the follow through. Our lives might get too busy or we might just have to fight off other dragons first. Many goals get missed that way and then we start to become critical of ourselves for not succeeding. The following is a short plan that might make this process a bit more attainable. Check it out and try it next time you are in goal setting mode.

1. Write down your goal.

· Make it specific

· Make it measurable

· Make it timely

· Make it fit you, your values, strengths, and purpose

2. Write down why the goal is important to you.

· What about this goal motivates you?

· What would happen if it was not achieved?

3. Identify obstacles or risks that could keep you from achieving the goal and develop a plan with action steps to help avoid these obstacles.

4. Take consistent action. Make a list of your support system, people you can count on to hold you accountable and offer encouragement along the way.

5. Finally, celebrate your accomplishment! Bravo to you! Remember to make your reward meaningful and special to you so it provides focus and keeps you on track as you implement daily actions.

Finally here is a terrific 20 minute stress reducer to use anytime:

Permit yourself 20 minutes to make a list with comments of the following:

1. List the names of people in your life that have helped you lean to love;

2. List the different things that have helped you get through hard times.
