Progress for America (www.ProgressforAmerica.org) recently launched a new Social Security ad entitled “The Right Thing To Do” that begins running immediately in a national cable television buy costing over a quarter of a million dollars.

PFA started the year with $9 million in the bank and has plans to spend $20 million on the Social Security issue. This ad will run for 10 days (2/7-16) nationally on CNN and FOX, complimented by a grassroots program of over a million supports that is designed to educate lawmakers and the public about proposed changes that are necessary to save and strengthen the Social Security program.

PFA’s ad is the second in a series. Last month, PFA’s first television commercial – “Courage” – helped start the debate over President Bush’s plan to strengthen Social Security for future generations and we generated more tens of thousands of telephone calls supporting immediate reform to members of Congress. This ad encourages Congress to find a bipartisan solution to addressing the Social Security crisis within the president’s parameters: no changes for those 55 years and older, no payroll tax increases, and the option of a voluntary personal savings account for younger workers to create a bigger retirement nest egg.
