Georgia Lottery officials announce Ed Nabors, a truck driver from north Georgia, has claimed half of the richest lottery jackpot in U.S. history.
The winning ticket was sold at a Dalton convenience store surrounded by carpet mills in the self-proclaimed "Carpet Capital of the World."
Assistant manager Rachel Gentry said about 90 percent of the store's customers are regulars. She said that while the store's employees don't know every regular's name, they do know their faces.
Connie Sexton, who has managed Favorite Market for 15 years, said it sold about 100 Mega Millions tickets yesterday alone, and most of its tickets are sold to carpet mill employees.
Lottery officials said the store will get 25-thousand dollars for selling a winning ticket.
Officials says it took several hours to verify what store sold the winning ticket because of the high volume of tickets sold and because officials wanted to have all participating states report in on their situation.
