Lt. Governor Casey Cagle released the following statement Wednesday regarding the selection of Gena Abraham as the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation.
“I want to congratulate Gena Abraham on being selected as the next Commissioner of the Department of Transportation. I have confidence in her leadership ability and look forward to working with her as we try to ensure that our state is providing the best possible transportation system for our citizens. I appreciate the diligence of the members of transportation board in reaching this decision and the thorough and professional way in which they conducted the interview process.
“I also want to thank my good friend Vance Smith for entering the process. I can only imagine how hard it was for board members to choose between such highly qualified candidates, and I know Vance will be a key leader in transportation policy for years to come.
“It's my hope that we can now move forward with focusing on the critical transportation challenges our state faces,” Lt. Governor Casey Cagle concluded.
