Five deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office graduated from the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy (NCGLEA) Friday. Deputies Eric Mistretta, Ashley Pope, Matthew Halstead, Stephanie Hudson, and Joseph Arena completed 408 hours of police training over the past 10 weeks. The deputies are currently assigned to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
The North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy (NCGLEA) is located in Austell, Georgia. The Basic Mandate course, which is required to be a peace officer in Georgia, is a ten week course which teaches the fundmentals of law enforcement.
