The Georgia Center for Nonprofits announces that it is accepting nominations for the Evelyn G. Ullman Innovative Leadership Award. The award will be given on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Georgia Nonprofit Summit. The Evelyn G. Ullman award is bestowed every other year to one nonprofit leader. The intent of the award is to celebrate and recognize a Georgia nonprofit leader’s innovative and strategic efforts that have had a significant impact on a community issue.
This award, a check in the amount of $15,000 written to the winner’s organization, is made available by the Evelyn G. Ullman family who has committed $75,000 to the awards program.
The 2006 winner of the Evelyn G. Ullman Innovative Leadership Award was Doug Ammar, Executive Director of the Georgia Justice Project for his work in ensuring justice for the indigent criminally accused and to assist them in establishing crime-free lives and living as productive citizens.
The deadline for 2008 nominations is Friday March 21 at 5:00 p.m. Selection criteria and nomination application is available online at

An Atlanta resident for much of her life, Evelyn G. Ullman is a long-time supporter of Georgia’s nonprofits—having been a volunteer, donor, and leader. Among her accomplishments is development of Jerusalem House, a program for homeless men, women and children with AIDS.
